economic change: ... a transformation that occurs within an economy that either depletes or sustains its vitality. It is observed and/or measured as a process. Change occurs in the natural course of time. Economic stability is arguably the closest thing to an antonym for economic change. Economist, Douglass C. North, indicated that change is brought about by the creation of institutions that are productive within the economy. Observed or measured as it puts products and services through the community, the enterprise the basic entity of economic stability and change; therefore, we (who we are) often use the expression, enterprise and economic development to explain the existence of The Network. Economic development is a process of change. It focuses on changing communities within economies. Economic development practitioners don't create the communities in which people are able to live, work, and share things in common. They make them economically viable and sustainable by effecting opportunities for entrepreneurship and job creation, by helping to increase local wealth and distribute imported capital. In other words they make the process of enterprise and economic development work better in the places they represent—an explanation of what area and local development representatives do to affect economic change. Its source is a definition of economic development paraphrased from an advertising slogan. The smallest entity of enterprise and economic development change is the local community and its immediate surrounding area. A flow of goods and services drives a local area economy. Douglas North and others use adaptive efficiency in reference to the flexibility that institutions need to have in changing themselves to sustain their contributions to local enterprise and economic development. Some institutions need to be replaced. Political and economic feed back is put to its highest and best use when considered in light of the common good. There is more to be learned about adaptive efficiency and economic change in an article by Arnold Kling (2007) titled Adaptation and the Economy. The expression industrial development directory is often interchangeable with economic development directory. The definition of the latter expression in the Economic Development Network website states that it is ... a published list of members of an economic development network that either shows or links to contact data; a list of names and addresses of contacts interested or involved in economic development; an economic development contacts directory, for example, the Global Registry of Contacts. Many organizations with memberships made up people interested or engaged in economic development make it a point to provide free-access directories online when they have an interest in helping area and local development representatives attract and serve prospects. For examples of how varied the sources for searching for area and local development representatives and finding out how to make contact with them can be, see the .network links to economic development directories for US states. You can arrive at the definition of industrial development directory simply by reading the phrase into the quote. Asking for information from an industrial development directory should be understood to mean the same thing as asking for an economic development directory. products and services: ... goods and services; an expression that unintentionally uses the word products where the term goods should be, thus making it a redundant statement in the eyes of purists (a tautology). Products and services is nevertheless an often-used expression, especially in the marketing world. For example, a manufacturing operation provides the service of producing something that its owner can send through a supply chain to various market. The product may be altered at some point so that a specific market is served. Purist say that services are products. See the information that Wikipedia has about goods and services. |
