region:

geography; a geography that is a specified district of territory, for example, a region of nations or a defined area within a country; a city-region or area identified by some other feature, such as a mountain range, river valley, or large body of water; one of the major areas of the world such as a continent or Oceania in the Asia-Pacific Region. A region may be is an area of interest for enterprise and economic development or it may has such activity on going. Places seeking economic development may in a region working together—their combined efforts referred to as area development. Regional development means the same thing as area development. The definition of location in this glossary is relative to development activities.
