An association formed in 2002 by a merger of the International Development
Research Council and NACORE International. CoreNet means COrporate
Real Estate Network. The International Development Research Council was first the Industrial
Development Research Council. The acronym was used for both associations
during the last half of the 20th century. The IDRC model was used in 2002 to organize the Industrial
Asset Management Council which is managed by Conway
Data. The association was incorporated in 1974 as the National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives after reorganizing and renaming the National Association of Location Analysts NALAN, which was organized in 1969. The focus was on bringing business leaders together so that they could network about real estate information. IDRC and NACORR International were
the predecessor associations of CoreNet
Global. At the core of their functionality was business
networking. Both were preeminent organizations in terms of
facilitating enterprise
developers and
site selectors getting to know resource and
service providers who could
help them gather information and complete projects. Perhaps the most important networking is that which is done on a person-to-person
basis between individuals with special skills and experience ... Eventually IDRC became to large to support the kind of networking suggested by the above quote. As the Industrial Development Research Council IDRC was an ideal size for business networkers, so much so that those who formed the Industrial Asset Management Council used it as a model. IAMC was formed as IDRC and NACORE International became CoreNet Global. Before its demise IDRC published information online about its resource and service provider members. They were designated as associates. Recognizing that their primary interest in IDRC was having access to so called corporate real estate executives and networking with them, IDRC associate members welcomed having a contact directory published free-access online. To serve as an example, one IDRC Associate contact file remains online. It is changed only to update contact data, otherwise the appearance of the page remains the same as originally published. It and the files of other associates served as a bellwether for the business networker's personal webpage. If you have an interest in seeing the example: CLICK HERE. The Network was starting up at the same time that IDRC published its membership directory online. The first website was www.FindMeHere.com ... introduced in 1996. Find Me Here serves members of a defined target audience. Business cards collected over 25 years and various types of directories to which the founder of The Network had access were used to build Find Me Here. Later, the website was expanded to include a library-style resource center and the control point for the Enterprise and Economic Development Glossary. Information about resource and service providers from the last membership directories published by IDRC and NACORE International, as well as the last directories published by the American Economic Development Council and the Council for Urban Economic Development, were added to the FMH database, which became the Global Registry of Contacts. |
