site:

... a place available for development; a place targeted for development; a parcel or area of real estate designated for something to happen, where something has happened or is happening. For example, a place where a structure or group of structures is under construction.

A site location is a place what a site is. It is a place pointed out, designated or specified within the context of its surrounding area, i.e., the identity of a place where a site is located.

Site location is also defined as the process of looking for commercial and industrial real estate sites. It's the work done by a site selector. It's location work, especially, as the process involves gathering and analyzing information about an area, such as a community, surrounding a real estate site. Altogether, community and area make up a location.

The contacts that site selectors make to gather information are referred to a location data suppliers. When the process involves gathering information from multiple locations, the site selector does comparative analysis. The site selection process in that regard is one of eliminating locations under consideration by comparing what they have to offer to a set of criteria will also seeking incentives.
